Institutional Biosafety Committee
The Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) reviews and monitors all clinical research studies involving infectious agents, hazardous chemicals, recombinant DNA, and genetically altered organisms and agents.
For clinical trials taking place within Georgetown University Hospital, any protocol requiring IBC review will be reviewed by theĀ MedStar Research Institute IBC .
How do you know if your new study requires Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) review?
- Often times the sponsor of a clinical trial will notify you that IBC review is required, however, if you are not sure, please contact the Georgetown Environmental Health & Safety administrator at (202) 687-4712.
IBC Application Process:
- Download an IBC Protocol Submission Form.
- Deliver completed form to: cbs@clinicalbiosafety.com.
